From: China Tibet Online

The Tibet civil aviation has completed 4,890 sorties to transport around 462,000 passengers and 4132.4 tons of cargos in the first quarter, up 23.1%, 26.6% and 63.1% year-on-year, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of China Southwest Regional Administration.

Among the total number, the Lhasa Gongkar Airport has operated 3,721 flights with 374,100 travelers and 3881.4 tons of cargos.

In order to ease the soaring demands for tickets, air companies have put 249 flights per week, increasing the numbers of flight to Tibet.

"The administration should improve its service such as updating the environment of the terminal building and guaranteeing the normal operation of flights," Ding Yexian, vice chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Region, suggested during an inspection on April 24.

Ding also asked the airlines to launch more routes during peak season, and strengthen security control to ensure passengers' safety due to the region's complicated highland geography and changeable weather.
